The Director's Chair

The director's chair, is a humble but classic choice, many options can be found for under $100.00!  There are a ton of frame and canvas color selections too! The canvas covers can be thrown in the wash, so they're vacation home and kid friendly! You can of course break the bank on this style too. The leather Hermes version price = $11,000. Yes, Crazy but true!
I love them as comfortable bar seats!

I also love a bamboo version purchase here.

The hanging or "swing" chair

I have a great on-going project I'm working on. The client is a dream, and so easy to work with. We are in the process of finishing up her daughter's bedroom. The daughter's last request for her room: a hanging chair! Here are a few inspiration shots and ideas I sent over to the client! I think a white rattan version could work well in the space. They aren't easy to find and I don't really feel like having one painted. My fear is it won't wear well.

above is the egg chair by Danish designer Nanna Ditzel. This version costs upwards of $3,000. ouch.

The lucite bubble chair by Eero Aarnio (1968)

More rattan versions, the one above is from the Home Port Collection! I'm sure this is fairly priced.
and the steal of the day, a hanging chair from IKEA. I've seen this in person, it's fun and could work. I would add a plump pillow and maybe a sheep skin throw to the seat!

We'll see what they like!

i love my job.

I was busy working away on a client presentation tonight when I came across this chair. I think I've seen these before, but I thought I would share them with all of you. I have a similar pair of chairs at my house but with a round back.  I am often asked by friends where I found them?? I purchased my chairs YEARS ago from the Martha Stewart Catalog {remember when she had a product catalog? like i said, years ago}. This timeless piece also comes in teal and white! Available through Wisteria.

Klismos Chair - two ways..

Why my post is so late today..Yes, that is my car buried under about 36" of snow in the left hand corner. I had to go to a client's house this morning so I was shoveling like a maniac to get out. I'm back in my office cozy and ready to post.

The Klismos chair known for its four gracefully splayed legs and curved back was created in 4th B.C. by the Greeks. It was most often used by women taking care of their babies.
The design then resurfaced during the French Directoire period{1795-99}, English Regency {roughly 1811-1820} and American Empire styles {roughly 1810-1825}

Design Chair by Verner Panton

The Panton Chair was designed by Danish-Swiss designer Verner Panton in 1967. The Panton Chair is still the most beautiful modern design chair that was ever created. One The Panton Chair was one of the first chairs exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Today the Panton Chair belongs to the classics of modern furniture design.

A beautiful, well-designed, perfectly-balanced modern design icon. If money is no objection, make sure you get the original pure-white high-gloss chair which is a real museum piece.

Project Sneak Peek

Isn't this finial gorgeous?
I love transforming furniture..It's a very important part of the creative process for me! I have a great set of craftspeople lined up who help turn my ideas into reality. Here is a snapshot of one of my latest project pieces for a client. It is a vintage Chippendale chair. We had it sprayed and sealed to match a turquoise necklace I happening to be wearing the day of our design meeting! I love the details of this chair, the finial, the color the, final seat fabric. I was very happy with the end result, as was my client! (which is the most important part of my job!) Be sure to check out my website in a few weeks. I am going to include a section that actually sells some of my vintage transformations and along with a small custom furniture line...eeek..I'm very excited about it..

BEFORE SHOT

Fabric on seat: Kathryn Ireland, Style: M6550
Here's another piece of the project. We had the panels for the client's credenza covered in one of my favorite wall coverings..

This wall covering is simply amazing isn't it? It comes in a number of colors and is part of the Osborne and Little vintage collection!

sorry about the blurry image..but you get the point..right?
